About the artist

Sofie Lindberg is a self-taught artist originally from Dalarna, but now living and working in Uppland. She grew up in a small village in the north of Sweden. Stories and legends about trolls, dark-sows, and other fairy-tale creatures were something she and her siblings were constantly told. The paintings often depict an environment from a child's perspective, with Dalarna often playing a central role in the paintings.

The paintings are also characterized by a great love of nature, and the materials vary between different techniques, but mainly acrylic and watercolor.

"It's about the curiosity in the process and the longing to create something unknown, without knowing how it will be perceived by the viewer."

Each work is different in its narrative and what it wants to convey. Playing with light and shadows with the brush and conveying something familiar but with a new interpretation. That is what makes the creative process inspiring and driving. It is about the curiosity in the process and being able to portray something unknown, without knowing how it will be perceived by the viewer.

The message of her paintings is to look beyond what we already know, to perhaps see and discover something new within ourselves.
